Guintoli till D'Antin Ducati

Brno MotoGP: Sylvain Guintoli to join D’Antin Ducati
French rider Sylvain Guintoli has signed a pre-contract agreement and will join Ducati’s satellite MotoGP squad in 2008.
Guintoli was squeezed out of the Tech 3 Yamaha squad after Colin Edwards agreed to join James Toseland for next season at the Czech Republic GP in Brno. Edwards has moved to make way for reigning world 250 champion Jorge Lorenzo in the Fiat Yamaha squad.

Guintoli has impressed in his rookie premier class campaign riding the Dunlop-shod Yamaha YZR-M1.

The second rider in Spaniard Luis D’Antin’s is still up for grabs, with the future of current duo Alex Barros and injured German Alex Hofmann in doubt.
Alex de Angelis is negotiating with both D’Antin and Fausto Gresini’s Honda squad, according to his manager Carlo Pernat, who recently clinched a deal with Suzuki for his other rider Loris Capirossi.

Robin Lässer är en som Keifer funderar på som andreförare till Stefan Bradl i 125GP. Man har inte helt bestämt sig att man ska sluta med att ha Dirk Heidolf i 250GP. Man har dock sagt till honnom att det kommer vara en väldigt liten chans att man kommer kunna ha en semifabriksaprilia åt honnom då.

Qatar to host MotoGP night race!

The opening round of the 2008 MotoGP World Championship, at Qatar on March 9, will also mark the first ever motorcycle grand prix to take place at night.

The 2008 provisional MotoGP calendar has been revised with the dates of four races changed for next year’s 18-round world championship.

The Estoril clash in Portugal has been moved forward a week and will now be run on April 13, 2008.

The Japanese and Australian races in Motegi and Phillip Island have swapped dates.

The Twin Ring Motegi race will now take place on September 28, and not October 5 as was scheduled on the original calendar released at the end of July.

The Phillip Island race has been moved to October 5, while the season will finish a week earlier than expected in Valencia.

Originally scheduled for November 2, the final round will now be held on October 26.

Chaz Davies till Ducati två dagars test...

"Before he races the Celtic Yamaha Supersport bike at Laguna Seca, Brit Chaz Davies will ride something with a bit more power. He will test the all-conquering factory Ducati MotoGP bike at a two-day test at Mugello. Davies will join regular Ducati MotoGP tester Vito Guareschi at the test."

Recent engine upgrades at last month’s Brno test session in the Czech Republic saw Kawasaki add another six horsepower and 400rpm on the ZX-RR, and Ichiro Yoda now believes the bike is edging closer to matching the performance of Ducati.

And he reckons Kawasaki’s current four-cylinder motor has a more usable power range than Ducati.

“Our latest spec engine is quite similar to Ducati. The gap is only a few horsepower.

“Only Stoner is faster out of the corner. Now we are close. I’m sure the range of the power is better on our bike than Ducati.

“We can use better from the bottom end and our range is a little bit wider. I think the gap to them (Ducati) is maybe around five horsepower or even less.

“Our rider’s say they can catch the Ducati in fourth, fifth and sixth gears. We’d like to bring our bike in the top of the speed charts.

“This is one of our targets but Kawasaki engineers are intelligent to do it properly so we don’t lose any advantage we have now,” added Yoda.

Nja. Han var projektledare för M1:an tom 2003 men fick gå när de gjorde en stor omorganisation. Då gick han till Kawasaki där han var head of development och genast införde long bang versionen. Numer är han teamchef sedan Eckl fick sparken.

Mattia Pasini kommer fortsätta köra för SSM Racing/Polaris World med den nya RSA 250 aprilian nästa år. Teamet tänker även att fortsätta med att köra i 125GP och man vill ha en Spansk förare där. Nico Terol är en som ryktas vara en som teamet tycker är tänkbar för nästa år.

Aprilia kommer supportra team med med 6st RSA och 4st RSW till nästa år i 250GP. RSW-hojarna är hojar som gått i VM i år. 2st kommer vara ex Lorenzo 2006 och 2st är ex Aspar 2007r.

HRC väntar in ordrarna för nästa år på sina A-kit/special Kit. Sista beställningsdag är nu nån gång runt den 20-22 september. Man kommer erbjuda uppdaterade 2007 kit för nästa år för både 125GP och 250GP. Dom som redan sägs vara klara i 250GP för nästa år för Honda ska vara S. Aoyama, Takahasi och Wilairot.
