Mariupol City Council
‼ ️Now the Russian occupiers are forcibly deporting thousands of Mariupol residents to Russia!
Residents of the Left Bank district are beginning to be deported en masse to Russia. In total, about 15,000 Mariupol residents were subjected to illegal deportation. This is about half of all residents who are still in the Left Bank district. It is known that the occupiers in the ultimate form are forcing people already exhausted by the war to get on buses. There is also information that the Russian occupiers are confiscating people's passports and other Ukrainian identity documents.
The deported people are first taken to so-called filtration camps, from where they are redistributed to various remote cities in Russia. Today it is known that about 6,000 Mariupol residents have already been forcibly deported to the occupier's territory.
Despite the fact that the Russian side regularly announces the possible evacuation of people to the territory controlled by Ukraine, in reality this is not the case. For the past 20 days, the occupiers have been blocking the evacuation column and preventing the safe rescue of people. Right now, buses that left Zaporizhia for Berdyansk to evacuate Mariupol residents have been blocked. Obviously, this is done only to prevent people from returning to the territory controlled by Ukraine. Despite the fact that this is what the residents of the Ukrainian city want.
"What the Russian occupiers are doing cannot be explained. At first, they blockade a peaceful city, purposefully start killing people, and then forcibly deport them to their territory. Ukraine experienced this only during World War II. Unfortunately, history repeats itself. Only now instead of Nazis - racists. Now we are forming a base of deported Mariupol residents and will work on their return to Ukraine, ”Mariupol Mayor Vadim Boychenko said.
