Nightmare on MotoGP Street part II: Kurtis is Back !!!

Milk souring Kurtis Roberts is preparing once again to set the track alight by making a sensational return to MotoGP at the final round in Valencia.

The 'designed for radio' American rider rode his debut MotoGP season in 2004 but found himself without seat for this year's championship. Some say this was because of economic politics whilst others argued that it was because he'd finished last in championship, scoring just one point and spent most of his time on the sick.
But whatever the technicalities Kurtis was forced to once again to dominate the AMA Superbike series finally finishing in a desperately close 16th position a mere 339 points behind eventual winner Matt Mladin.

Kurtis Roberts's long overdue MotoGP call up has come from the un-KTM Team KR squad - a team that, totally and utterly coincidentally, happens to be run by Kenny Roberts the Senior - father of Kurtis. Team KR were left rider and engineless mid-season after KTM decided to pack up their lederhosens and pastries and catch the next ski-lift home. KTM took their credit cards too meaning Team KR had no cash to attend the flyaway races and that Kenny Roberts was unable to 'dip in' again to get the sills repaired on his rusting 1989 Ford Escort.
However with Valencia only being a mere 16-day drive away for the KR Team lowloader the team looks certain to attend the event. Furthermore only the baboon-quarantine visas need to be sorted now to allow Kurtis and his trainer to pass safely through the borders to the final round.

"I have lots of unfinished business in MotoGP" stated Kurtis possibly referring to actually scoring points "I feel unfairly treated last year and now it's time to show Rossi and his clan the combined power of a Roberts and a Proton."
The world waits for lap six when Rossi and Kurtis are calculated to meet on the track.

REPSOL HONDA
American Nicky Hayden will be under huge pressure next season as it will be upon his shoulders that Honda's title aspirations will lie following Max Biaggi's and Sete Gibernau's probably departures. Spaniard Dani Pedrosa will join him but his small frame is likely to handicap him until the sport switches to 800cc machines.

GRESINI HONDA
The team look set to lose Telefonica backing and therefore Sete Gibernau as the Spanish telecommunications giant prefers to throw its weight behind Formula One champion Fernando Alonso. Italian Marco Melandri is likely to respect an option to remain at the team with Fortuna-backed Toni Elias muted to join.

SITO PONS HONDA
The team are fighting to keep their Camel backing by touting Spain's Carlos Checa into the team in place of Troy Bayliss, who looks set to ride a factory World SBK Ducati next season. Pons is keen to keep Barros in the team though Honda Japan are pushing to have World Superbike's Chris Vermeulen on a RCV next season. Vermeulen is keen to win the World SBK title before stepping up.

YAMAHA
The format at Yamaha remains a mystery with Valentino Rossi fighting to have his own team for various reason (See separate story). The Italian is keen to set up a team with McDonalds and personal backer Nastro Azzura in a cunning plan to be rid of tobacco sponsorship in order to do more F1 tests with Marlboro Ferrari.

American Colin Edwards is likely to stay with the team on a factory M1, while the Fortuna Yamaha Team could lose both sponsor and Toni Elias to Honda. Rubens Xaus is keen to rejoin the Superbike ranks with Casey Stoner, Robbie Rolfo and Randy De Puniet muted as possible replacement.

DUCATI
The Bologna bullets are set to retain Italian internet company Alice as their main sponsors with Loris Capirossi having already signed a contract for 2006. Spaniard Sete Gibernau is likely to join him.

DUCATI D'ANTIN
Luis D'Antin is pushing to get two 2006-spec Ducati Desmosedici's next season with Pramac sponsoring. Robbie Rolfo could stay within the team with the second seat open. Britain's Shane Byrne could be a possibility.

SUZUKI
The teams are still searching for a title sponsor for next season but they have done well to hang on to American John Hopkins for two more seasons despite the mid-field performance of the GSV-R. Kenny Roberts Jr looks set to exit the sport with Max Biaggi and Carlos Checa reportedly close to signing a deal.

KAWASAKI
The Green team has managed to hold on to Japanese miracle worker Shinya Nakano for next season but it is reported that Alex Hofmann could be on the way out. French riders Olivier Jacque, Sylvain Guintoli and Randy De Puniet have been linked to the seat.

Fler rykten....

Fortuna Tech One Yamaha
Simon Svensson & Randy Mamola

Kurtis "One Point" Roberts.
