Detta tycker jag är en bra förklaring (tagen från:

Both cafe racers and streetfighters were born from the need for something different and special, tailored by the individual riders to their own style. Such bikes were not available from stock and both defining what is possible.
The basic idea of a modern streetfighter is inspired in the same way as the cafe racer. Take the best frames, a powerful engine, the latest in suspension and tyre technology, and assemble it to form a unique piece of machinery.
Strong streetfighters deliver some 150bhp, some, turbo charged or nitrous injected, even more horses. They are powered by multi cylinder engines and often fed with fuels resembling substances used in chemical warfare.
Instead of a regular driving licence, you´d better ask for one endorsed for adrenalin!
Most streetfighters are based on Japanese designs such as Kawasaki and Suzuki, but, as was the case some fourty years ago, standard stock bikes simply haven´t got what it takes, .......
.... so the machine usually undergoes conversion, in many cases, a complete rebuild.
As in former times, manufacturers gradually begin to bring out such bikes, or cross-overs like the so called "naked bikes", e.g. Yamaha Fazer, Triumph T509 and Suzuki Bandit.
But, as we all know, nothing can beat the feeling riding your own bike.
