I'm glad to see that the Triumph involvement in the coming WSS season is sending this site into fever pitch once again. I haven't seen so many postings in such a short time, since at least a couple of years ago!
Anyway, just thought i'd shed some light on the 3 day test that was completed today, from my perspective.
Just incase you all thought I've let the side down and had my doors blown off by everyone at the test. Don't write me off just yet! What the media doesn't report when they quote the lap times is how many laps each rider has actually done.
Unfortunately Team Triumph-SC were only able to build one bike for this test, which meant that it had to be shared between Gary and myself. Seeing that this really wasn't going to work very well, and would possibly hinder the teams progress, I offered to take a back seat and let Gary get on with the job. This meant me getting a total of 40 odd laps over the 3 days, but I think you'll all agree by Gary's lap times it was the right thing to do. The boy was well and truly on it!
Most of my time ended up being spent on getting the team up to speed on technical info about the bike. In fact, Franco Farne had me under full interrogation for 3 days armed with his note book. I think I'm now definately on his Christmas card list.
I won't go into any more details about the test as I know there will be an official team press release shortly.
Finally, I'd like to say that the responsibility of this project is in very good hands, and that I look forward to testing with Team Triumph-SC again in the near future. Though next time I hope to have the opportunity to do a lot more riding!
