Shane Byrne
“I’m really glad with the result come from this first testing. The bike resembles the one by which I won the BSB title. So it was easy to get in the saddle of Sterilgarda’s bike especially because I felt immediately a member of this team. We did an hard work on a very funny track which gives to the rider wonderful emotions”.

Alex Polita
“I found quickly a good pace thanks to the guys of the team and to my new team-mate who made me immediately comfortable. I got a good feeling with the Superbike from the first lap. It’s like an elder sister of the bike I’ve ridden until last Sunday. There are more things to set, that means I will have the opportunity to tailor the bike on me, as I've started to do in the Superstock thanks to the team which taught me so much”.

Michel Fabrizio
“It’s nice to be back here in Portugal. We’ve made a good start and even though I was hoping to make the fastest time of the day I’m happy with the results anyway. We’ll see if the track dries out a bit in time for tomorrow’s sessions, if it does I’ll be able to get a lot more laps under my belt.”

Noriyuki Haga
“It’s gone well today. This morning we couldn’t do so much because the track was still very wet but the afternoon was more productive. I’m feeling pretty relaxed and comfortable with the bike and the team. I’ve had no real problems so far.”

Stiggy Racing Honda's Leon Haslam on the pace in Portimao.

The first day of the official SBK tests in Portimao started with wet conditions, but in the afternoon it finally started to dry up. Stiggy racing Honda rider Leon Haslam managed to do well despite the tricky conditions, setting the 7th fastest lap (1.45.323) to end the quickest Honda among the 27 riders. Teammate Roby Rolfo did not go out in the morning and only completed 6 laps in the afternoon session.
Luckily today the weather was mostly dry and the track condition improved throughout the day. With two practices, the riders were able to continue their work and make progress during the day. Leon finished day two with a best lap time of 1.44.170, while Roby was able to put down more laps than yesterday and became more comfortable with the bike and the set-up. The Italian was struggling a little with his shoulder injury and was unable him to push as hard as he wanted.

Leon:
I'm happy with our progress over the two days. We have been testing a lot of new things on the bike and so far we have found a good base to work with. Lap times have not been our main focus up until now, but I'm already faster then the last time I raced here, so I guess that's already a good reference for us in terms of our potential! We have more work to do and tomorrow we'll carry on where we left off today.

Roby:
At the moment I'm not so happy, but this is because of my shoulder. I find it very difficult in the left corners and keep losing my line as I haven't got the strength in my left arm and shoulder. Yesterday I didn't do many laps, due to the weather, but today I did and unfortunately my injury caused me more problems the harder I pushed. Other than that, the bike feels good and we have a good base set-up. The engine is strong and the chassis feels good, so hopefully we can improve tomorrow.

Stiggy Racing Honda's Anthony West and Gianluca Vizziello get down to business in Portimao.

After an successful test at Almeria at the beginning of last week, Stiggy Racing Honda riders Anthony West and Gianluca Vizziello have completed two days of the 3-day official SBK test in Portimao.

Gianluca:1.46.633
The bike is fast and I'm making lots of progress. We have been trying many different settings and set-ups today and they have been working well. Also the improved weather conditions made it more easy today. I'm getting more and more comfortable with the team and the bike and feel that there is great potential to come. I had a crash in the very last minutes of the afternoon session and ended up with a cut on my elbow. I had to have a few stitches and it's a bit painful of course, but hopefully it won't bother me too much tomorrow.

Anthony:1.47.270
It is working pretty well so far. I'm still trying to get used to the bike and learning about it all the time. Yesterday, conditions were not very good and even though today was dry and the track conditions better, I didn't enjoy the cold. The bike feels good in general, but the main issue today has been the throttle response. When I open the the throttle, the response is too strong and that makes it difficult because I'm still not sure of the grip level. During the day it got better and better, but there is still work to do tomorrow.
