Troy Bayliss put an end to all the speculation regarding his possible return to the track when he appeared before thousands of ducatisti at the World Ducati Week event at Misano over the weekend.
Following his recent test session at Mugello, when he lapped the development factory Ducati 1098 machine at a record pace, showing that he had lost none of his desire and competitive instinct, the three-times World Superbike champion had been linked with a possible return to racing, 18 months after his final championship race at Portimao in 2008.
"I spoke too soon," declared the Australian. "I still wanted to race and I said I wanted to come back. But when I tested here I found out that things weren't going that good and we ended up going around in circles. That's when it hit me and I realized that it was hard things like that that I didn't miss about racing. That completely I changed my mind, I don't want to come back racing and I don't want to do any wild cards. I'm retired and I'm happy."
