"I was riding the ´88 NSR and gave it a fistful going through the esses and as I shifted my weight from right to left the rear just lit up. The thing had me off the side so I was hanging on to the handlebars with booth knees dragging in the ground. That was my first wake-up call. It was like, Wow! So they call this a motorcycle do they!"valmers skrev:2487613Nej just det, 500rna var ju så överjävligt svåra att tygla att det krävdes övermänskliga krafter.

"...I changed up another gear through the fast rights behind the paddock. The thing just spun up and sent med straight into the hay bales. First time I met Eddie Lawson I remember him saying a lot of people can get on a 500 and go fast straight away. Then they have one crash, two crashes, three crashes and they take a big backward step. I´ve never heard a truer word."
"At Philip Island the bike would spread the calipers through the fast turns before Luckey Heights; you´d have to pump the brakes every lap. I kept telling Jeremy Burgess that Yamaha streetbikes dont´t do that. I told him that Yamaha street bikes handle better than Honda race bikes, and he just said: "The isn´t a streetbike or a Superbike, this is a 500 and this is the way it is."
