The final round of the 2012 World Superbike Championship will be contested by just 19 riders after Alexander Lundh joined John Hopkins on the injury sidelines.
The Swede, competing in his fourth WSBK event for Pedercini Kawasaki, crashed heavily towards the end of Q2 at turn three and was transferred to the local Nevers Hospital where he was diagnosed with a fracture to his T7 and T8 vertebrae.
Though he has suffered no neurological damage, Lundh will not line up for the final event of the season, the second withdrawal of the weekend after John Hopkins aggravated his ongoing hip injury.
Coupled to the absence of the Effenbert Liberty Ducat team, which removed Brett McCormick and Lorenzo Lanzi, from the entry list in the days prior to the French event, just 19 riders will now take part in the final two races of the season.
