I klartext: Du ökar och minskar fjäderförspänningen ytterligare utanför ordinarie område om du har justermöjlighet, och den ger justermöjlighet till dämpare som saknar.
Fjädrar går ju bara spänna till en viss gräns, sen är dom inte hårdare. Mindre förspänning vore konstigt när den bygger ett par cm.

Actually, coil bind is what happens when you've adjusted the shock spring preload so far that the coils will all come together, bottoming out the spring before the shock bottoms out, thus reducing total suspension travel.
I think what RXV Poor meant to say is that the R&D adjuster glide allows the spring to move around freely as the shock strokes up/down without putting side loads on the shock.

As far as the cam chain adjuster, I've never had one fail on us in the three years we've raced the bikes.
The stock automatic adjusters are a ratcheting type that once the are extended will not retract without dissssembly.
A manual adjuster is a good idea as long as you adjusted it periodically.
