Hello, Congratulations!Hello folks!
Got myself a Sachs 800 roadster, anyone know anything about these bikes?
Suzuki engine on the -03
Hello, Congratulations!
The sachs is a very reliable bike, with Ducati monster front suspension. I had a lot of learning experiences recommissioning mine after being stored outside for almost 10 years.
So I know these bikes very well and put almost everything I discovered on the link below
Personally for a new owner I'd recommend (in order of cheap to more expensive);
1) disable the PAIR system. It will sound and run better
2) Check and top-up engine oil. These engines punish very low oil levels with destroying crank bearings or crank thrust washers
3) disconnect the microswitch on the front carb (it messes with ignition advance at certain rpm for noise emission testing)
4) bleed and clean clutch master. The fluid return hole sometimes blocks, causing clutch slippage
5) Valve clearance check, then balance and sync carbs (if you can do it yourself). Same as in suzuki vs800 service manual
6) Fit a washer under the clutch plate springs, or use 5mm longer GSX1100 springs to cure clutch slip
note, hard to get parts are all the plastics and seat, middle section linking exhausts, givi luggage rack, main stand and original instruments. Ebay classifieds Germany and ebay auction sites are the best place for parts.
http://www.sachs-biker.de/ is great for info and parts too. It's the main owner support site.
Here's my bike after all the work and mods if interested
