Rossi losing F1 interest?
The ongoing speculation about Valentino Rossi's racing future continues unabated, with the latest comments from the Italian superstar suggesting that his interest in a Formula One switch is fading.
After a disastrous start to the 2006 MotoGP season in Spain, the seven times world champion won last time out in Qatar to leave him fourth in the championship standings heading for this Sunday's Turkish Grand Prix.
But that fightback, combined with finding a cure for the chatter (vibration) problems currently restricting his Camel Yamaha YZR-M1, has left Rossi with little time for anything else - including any further F1 tests with Ferrari.
Ferrari and Yamaha naturally want to know Rossi's 2007 intentions as soon as possible - with a June date being touted as an unofficial deadline for a decision. The 27-year-old is notoriously hard to predict, but it seems that - perhaps due to the increased MotoGP competition - his F1 interest is fading.
"My love for F1 has cooled," he told Motorsport Aktuell magazine recently.
Rossi has already declared that he will develop Yamaha's new 800cc motorcycle in the latter half of this year - an unusual move if he is planning to severe his two wheel ties - and it's hard to imagine the Italian then sitting back and letting others race 'his' 800cc machine in the 2007 world championship.
