new in Linkoping

wow. great. I cannot wait to get my R1 over here. Seems there are plenty of options for trackdays. I wanted to do the California Sup. School in UK but it was a bit expensive. Everyone told me it was really good. Maybe I ll do it here if possible.

Today I tried riding a bicycle for the first time after 10-15 years :D
its NOT the same like riding an R1 I tell you. I almost fell off two times. How embarrassing. :P

I have a soloution for you! :D

Sorry but that´s the last year price for a normal SMC school day. California SB School I´m afraid much more expensive... But they say they are good. I will stick to the normal SMC trackdays:) And hopefully some LMS "traffic events"

Thats what I've heard to. Carlifornia SB are good but much more expensive than SMC. Over 3000skr/day I think.

yes same price as in UK. Too bad really because they are very good. If they were cheaper more people would go to them.

....so what is the deal with the Desmo in Bike shop? :D

i wonder how many millionaires are living in Linkoping. I only ever saw 2 desmocedicis in London. One on the road and one in a shop for about 400000 sek. it is still in the shop after 1 year :D ahahahaha

Did you bring your bike yet? Just wanted to give a hint on the ferry from Immingham to Gothenburg!

Cheers

Hi,
i am going to London this Friday. Spend a week there and coming back on the 26-27th of June with the R1 :yoparty finally the weather seems stable enough to bring the bike. So much rain lately :(

I was planning to go through this route with DFDS ferry
http://mediafiles.dfds.com/Seaways/...on/20080826_gateway_scandinavia_routes_UK.jpg

is there a better way? which ferry company?

by the way....does anyone know what's the deal with number plates in Sweden? I have british yellow number plates without any EU star-circle symbol. Is that going to be a problem here? I suppose I can get new ones before I come just to be on the safe side.

Hi Zantos this company http://www.dfdstorline.com/DfdsTorLine/EN/

Departing from Gothenburg. Its not a normal ferry. Its a freight ship and there are limited numbers of spots. Last time i went we were 5 people travelling so it should'nt be a problem to get a spot.

Boring trip though unless you like the view of oil platforms in Nordsjön (Northern sea?)

Its not gonna be a problem. We are EU citizen as well.

ok that is very interesting. I was planning to come with the DFDS passenger ferry line that goes to denmark but it seems that they allow some passengers with their freight ships. I ll check it out. maybe it will be a good idea and save me some road riding through Denmark. Did you use it with your bike before?

hahaha thats not what I meant (are you really? :P ).
My number plate has no indication that its from UK. For example its something like that
http://www.sitey.co.uk/catalog/image/products/7x5_Chrome_Bike_Number_Plate_Frame.jpg

Which is ok for UK since the bike is registered there. Now, if I take it to some european country do I need to get something like that?
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c8/Latvian_bike_number_plate.png

but of course in my case it would say GB not LV.

I think that the yellow number plates might not be legal here in Sweden (or any other European country). Does anyone know about this?

UK number plates are ok here since the bike is registered and insured there. I wouldnt worry about it.

About the ferry. I didnt go with my bike but one of the passengers did. He was planning to pass england and take the next ferry to ireland. He did this every year so i know for a fact that there is no problem whatsoever to bring the bike on the ferry!

Might be a good idea to bring some straps for it though!

soooo.....
went for a first short ride around the town today. Tornby, city centre, around the hospital area etc. Maybe I saw a couple of you.
It was quite weird to drive on the right side in the beginning and especially turning left. But I ll get used to it. :D the thing is....this city is not made for bikes at all I think. Narrow roads, potholes, pedestrian crossings every 10 metres, many roads are rebuilt and have no tarmac!!! and full of cars that go very very slowly :D. Cannot really open the bike up....so i cannot say it was that enjoyable.
But maybe it will get better after a while.
I do however thing that i should take the bike out of the town and into some country roads. lets see :)

There are a couple of sweet roads around here. Check out Borensberg -> Tjällmo for example. And Sturefors -> Bjärka-Säby.
