Hello people, ok first let me apologize for using English in this forum but I just came to Sweden and I dont speak the language, so I hope its ok ;)

Anyway, I just came to Linkoping from London,UK 3 days ago and I will be working in the University for 1 year. I have a 2005 red R1 that I have left in London (:( ) and I was thinking about bringing it over here in a few months while the weather is good.

The roads here look really good. So, I just wanted to meet online a few people from the area and perhaps we can go out for rides etc.

So hello to everyone and hope to be riding again soon.

Welcome to Sweden!

You should definitely bring your bike. Just make sure it's adjusted for driving on the right side first! ;)

Even englishmen without english bikes are welcome to Norrköping on saturdays at ~12.00 ( and often sundays to ) for a "motorcycle drive gathering". Most of the people participating are active in this forum.

We all drive at our own pace and the kamikaze pilots leading the pack usually waits for the rest of us before they choose a new route. :tummenupp

regards Johan

:fyllisar thanks for the welcome.

Yes definitely going knee-down the other way on roundabouts must be a totally new experience :D

I am planning to bring the R1 quite soon. Especially after seeing how easy it is to get the ferry-boat from England to Denmark and cross-over the bridge.
And of course I will join you guys in your runs, sounds like fun. I am not really a kamikaze :tungan , but (I dont think) I am slow either.

By the way. Can you tell me how the police are in this place? And am I going to have a big problem with speeding and race (loud) exhausts?

Thanks

The exhaust is no big problem, if you don't go by full throttle in the city. :-) Almost everyone in sweden change exhaust pipes to ones with "richer" sound qualitys. :D Cops in sweden are more concerned if your license plate is not mounted exactly in the right angle. :hihi

About speeding, no one got caught during the weekend meetings in Norrköping last year (as far as I know). But those guys knows where and where not to drive fast....or they're just runing on pure luck. :)

If you didn't already know it, theres a racetrack in Linkoping where you could put you and your R1 up for a real test. (If your insurance company allows it!) There will be at least six occations this seasson when "amateurs" can use the track during professional supervision. Costs about 300 skr. (last years price) Very good training! :yoparty Attention! For theese trainings you will have to use the original exhaust(s)! But they dont mind if your license plate is illegaly mounted. :-)

I really recommend you to try out the Sviestad track a few times this summer. I have driven there with car and bike, and even if it isn't that long (1,33mi or 2137 meters), it's a really fun track with challenging corners.
As Johan already mentioned, last years price was 300skr (about £18) wich really makes it worth it! Just make sure that your insurance is valid for trackdays and that you're using the bikes original muffler, and you'll be 'home free' :D

Here is a picture of the track. Start/finish marked in black and red, and the track marked in yellow.

Welcome to sweden btw!

Hi guys.

Thanks for the tips.

Wow...I am really surprised that you have a track here. I definitely want to try it. :yoparty

I dont think my insurance (or any UK insurance) will cover the trackday. Normally over there, we need a special trackday-insurance from a separate company, so most people just go to the track without insurance and trust to luck. If they have an accident they just pay by themselves.

Over here you need insurance to go in the track or can you get in without?

You need insurance to get on the track.
Check out http://lms.se

Dunno if you understand swedish though :)

North East of Lambohov. When it looks like that it's often something secret (read military). However I don't know if a military building is situated there...can someone confirm?

Not secret, it´s a field where they (military) used to practice driving trucks aso.
The insurance needed for the track day is the part of the insurance that covers your responsibility aganst the other part in an accident.

ah i see. so its not insurance to repair my bike if I crash it then :D

anyway, I ll have to check with my insurance company from uk when I get the R1 here, because they might not cover third-party in an accident in the track at all. :banana

ahh...real nice day today. Glad to see some big bikes around. Saw a group of three bikes around Tornby this afternoon (a blue daytona? a black blade and something else). Maybe it was some of you guys.

Always good to see that bikes are getting more and more :) hope to join you soon.

No bike ride for me today! There where other things that needed to be done unfortunately.

This morning, when I went to the car I heard a familliar sound! A Speed triple engine started(!) the exact moment i opened the door! Whats the odds for that?? First I thought that someone had stolen my bike from the garage since nobody I know in the neighbourhood have an S3. :)

My "don't get to ride my bike on a Saturday" went from bad to worse in a hartbeat. :huvet

But tomorrow is another day! I'll join up with the people in Norrköping if it doesn't rain or snow (to much). :-)

wow. great. I cannot wait to get my R1 over here. Seems there are plenty of options for trackdays. I wanted to do the California Sup. School in UK but it was a bit expensive. Everyone told me it was really good. Maybe I ll do it here if possible.

Today I tried riding a bicycle for the first time after 10-15 years :D
its NOT the same like riding an R1 I tell you. I almost fell off two times. How embarrassing. :P
