Team DNS Press release pre-KM II 2011:
A final decision about our appearance on the KM II race hasn't been made. This is due to the dangers of radiation and the possibility of another earthquake. Though we feel for the people of Linköping, we fail to see the point of endangering ourselves and our staff. If HRC says we must go, we'll have to negotiate further.
The status of our bikes is as follows; The #73 bike has finally got the engine and suspension upgrades. Changes has been made to the gear shifting system as well, but tests have shown that the system isn't completely free of faults.
The #80 bike is as good as it ever was, and will also be subject to the changes in the gear shifting system.
Further changes to the system on both bikes will incorporate the possibility to switch the electronics off in case of malfunction.
Rider wise, #73 is on a downward spiral regarding his confidence in the bike. Despite the suspension upgrade, he still complains about not being able to feel anything.
This lack of feel will probably mean a withdrawal from the race if it's wet, since going slow and being scared and then crash will do nothing to boost rider confidence.
#80 is silently praying for rain, since that is being regarded as "the great equalizer" in terms of evening out the horsepower deificit to the 250 cc bikes. He is confident he can get a good result and maybe even a win in wet conditions.
But all this is rather pointless to discuss if we can't get guarantees from the Östgötian government about radiation levels and earthquake risks.
There is some rumors that rider #73 lack of feeling is lazyfatass syndrome due to excessive chairsitting. He need more time in the saddle so he can build confidence and learn how the bike feels.
