Ajo Motorsport prepare legal proceedings against Mika Kallio and KTM
The Ajo Motorsport team have announced that they are to begin legal proceedings against their former rider Mika Kallio and KTM, with whom he recently signed for the remainder of the 2003 season. The team claim that Kallio illegally cancelled his contract with them so that he could join the Austrian manufacturer as a replacement for Arnaud Vincent, and are now ‘seriously considering, and also preparing, to start legal actions against Kallio and KTM to annul Kallio´s contract with KTM and to seek for indemnification for serious damages suffered by Ajo Motorsport.’
A statement from the team which brought Kallio through to Grand Prix racing from national competition in Scandanavia added: “We want to emphasize that our aim is not to destroy Kallio’s career but to defend ourselves. Our work and investment in Kallio during the last years show that we were, and still are, willing to do our best to help Kallio to succeed. We are still hoping to find a conciliatory solution to this situation, but if no cooperation is shown from the other side, we will take any actions available to enforce our agreement with Kallio and seek compensation for damages.
