Travis Pastrana

What has Travis Pastrana done for you? I would guess; Nothing. What has he done for me? Nothing… So, what has this man then done?

Everything started the 8th of October - 1983, the day he was born.
Travis started to drive motocross when he was only a kid, when he was around 6-7 years old.
He was a natural talent, and the youngest rider ever to represent USA in the "motocross de nations", in France year 2000.
Team USA won the contest!

Travis has competed in different motocross competitions.
The one he has become biggest in is Freestyle motocross.
He was the first man in the world to do a backflip with a motocross.
A few years later he took every rider and the motocross world with storm!
He did a trick that many thought was even more impossible than a backflip!
Travis new trick was a 360 with a motocross!

Now you maybe wonder how he can learn these tricks, I mean…when you are on a competition you wouldn’t think:
-“hey, I want to try a backflip or a 360 for the first time in my life!”
As you can understand these tricks are very dangerous to do if you fail when you land.

Travis has a foam pit on his backyard.
This “foam pit is filled with a sort of cushions; it is a sort of pillows if you wonder.
One cushion costs around one dollar. And to fill this foam pit you will need around 40.000 cushions.

Now you may understand how he can train and learn all his tricks, it doesn’t matter how he lands in the foam pit because he will always make a soft landing.

Freestyle motocross has become a very big sport, but I don’t think it had become so big if not Travis had start riding and done all his crazy tricks on the bike.

When he showed everyone how “easy” it could be to do a backflip, many other riders started to do the same trick!
Today the judge in a competition will not be so impressed when you do a backflip. If you want to impress them today you will need to do a combo in the backflip, by that I mean: When you are doing a backflip
you should do “no-foots” at the same time, for example.

Travis Pastrana has done so much for this sport. If he hadn’t start riding, the sport had probably not grown so much as it has. I don’t think that someone had done a 360 today if not Travis had shown that it wasn't impossible.

To become a Champion in this sport it means that you must have at least one screw loose and not be frightened to break every bone in your body.
I can definitely say that Travis has more than one screw loose and that has done him to one of the biggest freestyle riders in the world!

Självklart är det viktigt att det är korrekt engelska, det du ska säga. Jag måste dock varna dig för att använda ett för exakt manus. Att lyssna på nån som läser innantill från ett färdigskrivet tal är mördande trist. Gör mycket hellre så att du sätter upp stolpar över vad du ska säga samt i vilken ordning du ska säga det. Som ft sa så är inledning och avslutning extremt viktigt så där kan det däremot vara bra att öva in några snitsiga formuleringar.

hehe.. det är roligt att höra hur alla vill rätta det ena å de tredje
Fick hjälp av en vän som är duktig på engelska som rättat en hel del, men ser nu att ni vill rätta en del av dom grejjerna och så..

Är det nån som har tid/lust att kunna göra en renskrivning på det som ska ändras så jag kan skriva ut det...

Jag ska inte stå och läsa rakt upp å ner på detta tal, utan jag ska kunna berätta hela skiten flytande i huvet.. jag kommer att ha med papperet om jag skulle glömma nåt, men tanken är att jag inte ska vara i behov av det..

Dock ar det kul att ha en diskussion om engelska med en larare i amnet. Enligt mina amerikanska vanner och sambo sa pratar jag flytande och nastan utan accent, men lite putsning ar alltid bra.

Som en avslutning på denna tråd kan jag berätta följande:

Det vart en riktigt kanon tal!
Läraren tyckte att jag hade framfört det riktigt bra och att det var ett stort plus för mina betyg! *har inga toppbetyg i engelska, så kan lova att det var riktigt skönt att höra!!*
Hade nåt gramatiskt fel när jag pratade, men annars var talet kanon!
