Hello bikers,,

Sadly I dropped my bike on Saturday, glad I am fine.

The damage on bike is not big.

There is scratches on the side cover, broken left side tail cover, scratches on left handle and scuff on the front wheel.

I drove the bike after that for 100 km, no oil leakage, sounds ok and hit high speed with no problem

------//------

The question is:
Since the only thing I have to replace is the rear left tail cover (found in eBay for around 800sek include shipment)

Or

Pay 2500 sjalvrisk for full insurance and they check the bike thoroughly and hopefully replace all the scratched parts including the wheel, if they generous will change oil too

Do you think they do it, or only the broken part??

Does claim insurance affect my price tag profile for next year? And how big it is?
Or it does not matter how many times you crash ??

I am new to Sweden, your advice is appreciated?

Thanks in advance

Using my insurance for my bikes haven't increased my price any noticable amount, but I'd not say that is the same everywhere. If it's just cosmetics, which is what it sounds like, you may get away cheaper than your självrisk.
There is also the chance of the insurance company considering it not worth fixing, and just giving you what they think the bike is worth and scrapping it.

The most expensive part to replace I'd say would be the front wheel. The rest should be possible to find.
I had a 250 ninja that I dropped on the left side, I just mended it so that it was in full working order and kept riding it until it got stolen. Ebay is a great place to find new fairings. :P Otherwise you might find some parts in scrap yards, but they can be expensive (even as expensive as ordering new parts from your local dealer).

If you call the insurance company, they will probably be happy to inform you how much your premium will increase etc.

But since you did not damage any other vehicle, your bonus/standing with the insurance should not decrease. It is only if you are responsible for for an accident involving another vehicle or person that your premium goes up.

But call the insurance company to be sure.

Maybe there's a connection :näsblod

It was later found in a shed in the docks in Karlskrona, where rats had dined on the loom. I think it was stolen by a brace of idiots that probably thought it was a proper 600/1000 cc ninja. They never even managed to start it since their drilling and tampering with the key-stuff blew a fuse. :gnissla

Tricky question, the reason to buy "full insurance" is most likely to be able to call Someone Else to fix all problems, including the ones you make by your own mistake.

On the other are the fees at such ridicoulus rates just because of that (and the customers who pays them want bang for their bucks when things go wrong).

Well, as of not a brandnew bike, soon 4 years: my advice would be "do nothing apart from the cover" (that you'll replace with a second-hand one, hopefully already with the right colour)

-no problem having some modest scratches in you bike - they are just an evidence you have used your bike :-)
(Bikes are made for riding. And more you use your bike, even more small scratches or wornmarks there will be, like it or not..)

For such a "new and expensive" bike I am not sure what level workhops/carpainters the insurance company is willing to pay, obviously this could be enquired.. And a bad restoration attempt now -mainly: bad painting (several places) migth result that it will look as if it has been repaired after a bigger accident.

So if I got the right picture about the damage, I would advice "not worrying more on this" and spen all money above the 800,- on fuel, good tires, driving on roads and track-days, etc :-)

Welcome to the land of Absolut Vodka, General and some other great stuff (if we didnt sell it to Asia). In Sweden we dont drop our bikes but we do crash them from time to time.I am one of those who had fixed the bike myself with parts from EBay when my trust to the insurance companies is rather low.But that of course depends on how skilled you are with the toolbox ... and they do not pay for an oil change, only for the broken parts.

P.S. Dont drop the bike on the Oresund Bridge.Long way down to get it up again. :lol
