Hello everyone..

I am new in Sweden and happen to like riding MC.
When it comes to insurance prices (full insurance=helforsakring), in some countries they calculate the price according to history of previous accidents, is it the same in Sweden? SVEDEA to be more specific?

I looked up their website, and in section frågor och svar, I found this:

Vad tittar ni på när ni räknar fram era priser?
Priset på försäkring styrs av motorcykelns ålder, modell, effekt och vikt samt din ålder, var du bor och i vissa fall hur länge du haft mc-kort.

Nothing mentioned about history of accidents, but in real life, what is your experience with insurance companies....?

-------------------- The answer will determine next step ----------------------------------

I have full insurance with SVEDEA and sadly I had crashed in KNIX in very low speed the damage is only cosmotic and scratched the engine cover (cost new to fix around 1500-2000SEK), + my gortex pants (2000SEK) but still in working condition, small hole in the pockets. + crash protector the took most of the damage(2000SEK)

Do you think it is wise to just fix the engine cover myself at cost equal to självrisk. and safe me from increase insurance premium for next year (or next MC in future)
Or
Insurance price is not affected with accident history, then fix everything through SVEDEA...

I appreciate your input :banana

I'm not too sure about if the premuim will become higher, but i think there was a thread about just this not too long ago, and the answers were no, that it does not become significally higher from just a couple of crashes...

One thing you must take into consideration, is that the ensurance company often takes ALOT of time to fix even the smallest problems with your bike. And it's just about the beginning of a new season :tummenupp My friend crashed his varadero in a roundabout in low speed, only cosmetics aswell, but took the insurance company 4 months to repair. But that may vary from ensurance companies, im not sure what ensurance company my friend had. One posetive thing is just that thing, it's the beginning of the season, the companies does propably not have so much to do just yet :tummenupp Not so many crashes yet. I just thought you might want to take that into consideration!

Cheers :tuttar

I went down with SVEDEA as my insurance last summer and I was offered the same price for the following season, so from my experiece you should be fine :tummenupp

Svedea does not seem to "punish" the ones who have crashed. There are companies ("if" for example) that ask you if you have been the one causing a accident and if yes how long ago. The longer ago the lower the price. The difference wasn't huge though. They state that they want to reward the more careful drivers.

Svedea does not base their price on your crashes. I've had 2 with them as insurance company. One minor that was just plastic and engine covers that cost them 36k to fix. And the second one I'm still drumming up the bill, real bad crash with lots of time in hospital and stuff, and still didn't have any raise...
Of course, now I've probably messed the statistics up for where I live so the prices might go up because of that. :gnissla
