Dom är väl till för att förbättre vridet på lägre varv. Det brukar finnas en wiremekanism som öppnar spjället gradvis så att vid fullt pådrag har det ingen inverkan. Så antagligen har den som tog bort det mest tappat respons vid lägre varv.
Den här texten såg jag på en sida om Yamaha R1 :
"Ok, so a standard R1 sounds as flat as a fart, I grant you that. But if the R1 comes equipped with any one piece of brilliant engineering, it’s the renowned EXUP valve. Ditch this for a full system at your peril.
The EXUP valve was designed for midrange and flexibility. It was designed for you to be able to put down massive power at almost any RPM. It’s been kicking around for nearly 10 years, and it’s been perfected. You really can’t beat it. Since the patent ran out (a patent is only valid for a certain amount of time), Honda have adopted the same principle for the Y2K Blade and Suzuki for their all new GSXR1000. It should also be noted that the R1 also runs carburettors; quite unusual for a modern day sportsbike. Yet again, the standard set up is so good, you mess with at the expense of your bank balance.
The only thing an R1 needs reference tuning is an end can for extra noise. Ok, you're gonna get a few extra ponies, but nothing really to write home about. With a 150 horses as standard, did you think the list would be endless when it came to tuning?
EXHAUST SYSTEMS:
As already stated, full systems are a big no-no. Forget what the big tuning shops tell you, they're just after your cash. Sure they'll do a good job, but that EXUP valve is so brilliant, we think you'll be disappointed by the loss of it if you fit a full system. Dynomite do underseat exhausts for the R1, and they claim a power boost, but they want about £1200 for it. Not worth it in our book.
Go for just an end can with a K&N filter, and possibly a Dynojet kit if you really must part with the cash. The EXUP valve will compensate for an end can automatically.
