TROY BAYLISS appears to have an addiction to racing and is struggling to acclimatise to his new life of a retiree, as the Australian had hoped to wildcard at the first two rounds of the World Superbike championship.

However, the three-time WSB champion was supposedly denied the opportunity to wildcard in his home race at Phillip Island or Imola by the Ducati factory. He later turned to his Facebook page clear-up the rumours saying that politics were the reason behind his return being turned down:

"Hey guys, I want to make something clear, Ducati did not stop me to wild card at The Island and Imola, it was possible but becomes to political in the end, that's why I gave up."

But, now it seems that Bayliss is welcome to wildcard in the next round at Imola. Ernesto Marinelli, Project Leader for Ducati Corse in WSB, has told Italian publication Gazzetta della Sport: "If he wants to ride, we have the bike."

Now it's up to Bayliss on whether he wants to make his comeback to World Superbikes at 43, not an ancient age when you factor in how old Max Biaggi (40) and Carlos Checa (39) are.

Jag med, men tvivlar starkt på att det skulle funka. Tror att det skulle bli som med många andra som kommer tillbaka. Schumacher, Gibernau kanske inte minst. Det har ju tagit något år för både Max och Checa att ta sig upp till den nivån igen. Han slutade på topp i princip, tycker inte han ska förstöra det genom att komma tillbaka bara för att visa att han inte är i samma form som han var i.
