Honda's Jake Zemke was quickest in the morning session. Jake's Superbike now sports Ohlins suspension as opposed to Showa equipment. Longtime Ohlins tech Stig Petteresen -- who has worked with many teams and riders over the years -- could be seen under the Honda canopy at the test.
Lots of new race machines in the paddock. The morning session saw Ben Spies get a lot of laps on the new Suzuki GSX-R600, a bike that is said to be still in largely stock trim.
Like the aforementioned Suzuki, the Kawasaki Superbikes are a work in progress, with parts expected to come down the line. Both Hayden brothers have one each at their disposal and Rog will ride his this afternoon.
Yamaha's FX approach has been to start with the bikes in Supersport-like trim for the morning session, then add on as the weekend progresses, according to team insiders.
Ben Bostrom's leathers finally got here. Ben rode in some old Xaus leathers from who knows where inthe A.M.
Jake Holden is now racing for Jordan Suzuki, joining Steve Rapp and Jason Pridmore. Unlike last year when the Jordan riders shared a bike at the January test here, they all have their own machines.
The new-look Erion team has Josh Hayes and Aaron Gobert in spiffy Erion leathers.
