Following consultation with British Superbike teams, it has been agreed to evolve the MCRCB (Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board) Superbike regulations, commencing from 2008.
The MCRCB and the Association of Motor Racing Circuit Owners (AMRCO) are concerned with ensuring the current success of the British Superbike Championship continues, with a particular emphasis on closeness of competition, cost of participating and safety.
Discussions have taken place with the FIM, FG Sport (World Superbike promoters) and other organisers of national Superbike series - including the USA, Australia, Germany and Japan - to find a common set of regulations that can be used for all series.
"As a result we are close to reaching an agreed set of regulations with the FIM that will be in principle the same chassis regulations as at present but with engine modifications limited to the type used in the Supersport class. The objective is to retain present power levels and reduce costs," read a statement.
