Robert Dunlop
"When I first heard the news that the TT was being extended to the Saturday of the race week and that the 125 and 250cc races were to be held on the Southern 100 course, I thought someone was kidding me."
"As far as I'm concerned, there's only one course and that's the Mountain. The TT is unique and is a severe and ultimate test of man and machine. I have always loved it in its old form, but I'm not going to argue with the new idea, for this will provide for me a way back to what is in effect the most prestigious meeting of the year."
"I've been successful many times in the Southern 100, but I can't really remember whether I had up to 20 wins or not. Let's say I had reached double figures on the course and, to be honest, I've always liked it and felt that I was very much at home there. Let's hope the same thing happens this time and that new-look TT will be a success,"
"I will be happy to ride at the TT and also my sons, William and Michael, will come into play for they will be operating in the 250cc race as well. I hope to ride in the 250 for the first time in many years and, as far as I'm concerned, I will have a trial run in the North West 200, where I understand the 125 and 250cc races will be held separately.
"As far as my new season is concerned, the TT is going to be a major venture, but I haven't really had time to take the new thinking about the race on board. I really don't know what's going to happen, but let me put it to you this way, if there are races for me, I'll certainly do them."
